What was once an old, abandoned woodshed on the ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Campus from the early 1900s eventually evolved into a controversial and well-known piece of art.

Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.

¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ is introducing a Cooperative Education program for students of all majors at all ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State campuses.

The ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Women’s Center in the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will celebrate its 20th anniversary during the 2016-17 school year. The Women’s Center, formerly called the Women’s Resource Center, was established in 1996 following a recommendation from a university stakeholder committee to former ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State President Carol A. Cartwright.

Do you have school spirit? The ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Alumni Association is looking for motivated and enthusiastic faculty and staff members from every campus to serve on the 2016 Homecoming Committee.

The 10th annual Main Street ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´. Proceeds will benefit Main Street ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

From getting deployed to Afghanistan to being unable to pay for classes, starting a family and even accepting a job at a winery in southern Germany. The reasons for leaving ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ before completing a bachelor’s degree fall across a wide spectrum for some students.

Since 2008, Jill Lahrmer, assistant professor in ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´â€™s College of Architecture and Environmental Design, has consistently shared her passion for interior design with her students.

¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ held its 14th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28 in the ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Student Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
