Information about the Peace and Conflict Studies minor (available prior to Fall 2025)

Starting in Fall 2025, the School of Peace and Conflict Studies will be offering two minors:   Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Management, and Environment, Peace and Justice.  The minor in Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Management is a revised version of our Peace and Conflict Studies minor that we offered in previous years.

As of Fall 2025, students will no longer be able to add the Peace and Conflict Studies minor, but can instead pick up Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Management.  Students currently enrolled in the Peace and Conflict Studies minor are not affected by the change - the name and requirements for the minor will stay the same for those who picked up that minor prior to Fall 2025, and you will be able to complete those requirements under that name.  However, you do have the option of switching over to the revised minor if you wish.

The new name for the minor (for those signing up in Fall 2025 or later) is Negotiation, Mediation, and Conflict Management.  The total hours for the minor has been reduced from 21 credit hours to 15 credit hours.  Negotiation has been added to the core courses required for the minor, while the following classes have been moved from core courses to electives: Gender, Power and Conflict; Nonviolence Theory and Practice; and Conflict Theory.  Career Pathways in Peace and Conflict Studies was removed from the elective list, and we have added some of our newer courses as electives.
