Commemorating Moment Frozen in Time
Hundreds of ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members gathered to pay their respects and to remember.
Annual Candlelight Walk and Vigil Marks May 4
Despite rain, ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ continued its commemoration to honor the memory of May 4, 1970 with the annual candlelight walk and vigil on campus. This cornerstone of the commemoration began in 1971. Participants carried candles as they gathered on the ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State Commons and in the Prentice Hall parking lot.

May 4, 1970, marked a pivotal moment in American history.

A group of Emerson College students in Boston, who are enrolled in Gregory Payne’s course about the ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State and Jackson State tragedies will visit ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State on May 2-4, when the university holds its annual commemoration.
President Diacon Addresses Budget Challenges, SB 1 Implementation and University's Path Forward
¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ President Todd Diacon recently addressed multiple challenges facing the university with the Akron Beacon Journal, including the $1.5-$2 million cost of implementing Senate Bill 1, budget constraints from capped tuition increases, and enrollment declines.
