The family of Astrid N. Sambolin Morales, Ph.D., an assistant professor at ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State, is dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. They have been without electricity since the storm hit Sunday Sept. 18, 2022.

The first full week of fall is also the most spirited week at ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´. The week of Sept. 26 to Oct. 1 is Spirit Week and includes homecoming weekend at ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State. The week will be full of events celebrating ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State spirit.

The ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2026 at the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 21 at the ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Airport. ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ State’s freshman class began classes on the ¾Ã¾ÃÎçÒ¹ÐßÐßÓ°ÔºÃâ·Ñ¹Û¿´ Campus nearly 7% larger than the previous year with 4,251 students – the eighth largest incoming class in the university’s 112-year history.
